    Zi Lian-ing time!

ok ok...Yesterday my cousin Da sheng insisted i was very zi lian (自戀). And i won't deny that. LOL. Here are some evidences i took in the afternoon before going to my students' house.

BEWARE THE UPCOMING SHOCK YOU MIGHT RECEIVE ! DON'T PUKE PLEASE. ahahaaz..

i'm in tune with this... Choice/Chance or both?

I got to chance upon this post from Paperger's blog, in which she had quoted this from a friend whose name is kston.

When we meet the right person to love, when we're at the right place at the right time, that's chance.

When you meet someone you're attracted to, that's not a choice. That's chance.

Being caught up in a moment (and there's a lot of couples who get together because of this) is not a choice. That's also a chance.

The difference is what happens afterwards. When will you take that infatuation, that crush, that mind-blowing attraction to the next level?

That's when all sanity goes back, you sit down and contemplate whether you want to make this into a concrete relationship or just a fling.

If you decide to love a person, even with his faults, that's not a chance. That's choice.

When you choose to be with a person, no matter what, that's choice.

Even if you know there are many people out there who are more attractive, smarter, and richer than your mate, and yet, you decide to love your mate just the same, that's choice.

Infatuation, crushes, attraction comes to us by chance.

But true love that lasts is truly a choice. A choice that we make.

Regarding soul mates, there's a beautiful movie quote that I believe is so true about this: Fate brings you together, but it's still up to you to make it happen. I do believe that soul mates do exist.
That there is truly someone made for you. But it's still up to you to make the choice if you're going to do something about it or not. We may meet our soul mates by chance, but loving and staying with our soul mate is still a choice we have to make.We came to the world not by finding someone perfect to love...BUT to learn how to love an imperfect person perfectly..

    Happy Birthday seet!

    Happy Birthday to u, seet!

All these photo were actually taken last Friday when we celebrated seet's birthday in advance.
It really had been a fun and enjoyable evening and night... Because it was CLUBBING time after the celebration!

Us! Our gang and seet's mom behind me & van. =))

We were all looking greedily at the cake! Did you see our saliva dripping all over the place? LOL.
I remembered andy was being impacted the most! Because initially he was dozing off. However, once the cake was carried out, he was the first to jump out of the sofa. 180 degree change loh...ahaha.

    The loving couple. =)

Pig-ing out time! All of us were attacking the cake AGRESSIVELY! Must thank seet for buying such expensive and most importantly, yummy banana chocolate cake!

We were on our way to St. James Powerstation.

St. James surprisingly charge cheaper than MOS! The entry charge for girls is $15 each and guys $20 each with 2 free drinks each.

    Seet's bday celebration & clubbing

Just came home from clubbing not long ago. This was the second time i went clubbing. First time was with my cousin and his friends. And this time was with my very own gang! Really had lots of fun! In total we danced for 3 straight hours! Li hai ba... lol... =)

Before that, we celebrated seet's birthday at her house. Her mom cooked us dinner and seet treat us chocolate banana cake from Secret Recipe. I tell you, the cake was simply heavenly! The combination of banana and chocolate....drooling....

Pictures at seet's house will be uploaded as soon as seet send them to me.

    Cheers~

    Meeting an old friend

Today i met up with chou kit , our former yjco president, at Yishun Ten Burger King . We had not seen each other for almost 1.5 years and it was really nice to be able to catch up with him. Right now he is doing Industrial design at NUS. Listening to how he introduce his course to me, i could sense that he really enjoys doing what he does and i am happy for him. =) His sense of pride for his course could be seen sparkling in his eyes. LOL...

Anyway, he is very much like before. Still very lame and buay hyao bai (thick skin). haha. He even sent me an sms saying his birthday is coming soon, so must meet up again and treat him a meal. oh gosh...faint*

    A response piece to 问世间情为何物?

Anything that concerns about feelings and emotions are never easy to deal with. Relationships (including kinship and friendship) are all about emotion attachment and feelings, hence they are really complex to begin with.People want to sustain a relationship can be accounted for many different reasons. (in this case i focus on BGR) Such as companionship, sexual desire, financial or/and love etc. It is up to a person to seek for what he/she really wants in a relationship. Of course, mutual agreement and goals play a crucial role in a relationship. Because constant friction in peceptions can cause great distress. Personally, i feel that a healthy relationship is when both parties feel comfortable/happy with each other's company and both are able to grow and mature together towards a common future.

There is this phrase that goes - "when you truely love someone, it is not about loving someone you can live with, it is all about loving someone you cannot live without." I supposed you came across this saying before.Like you say, maybe it is because we are too used to the presence and have already put in so much time and effort, one could find it easy to live with each other. But one should also ask oneself, 'can we simply live without the other?' If yes, then love is already not present. If the answer is a no, then congratulation to you. Because that someone really means the whole world to you, making you want to protect him/her from all harms and unhappiness.

Unhappiness can be either internal, external or both. Anything that comes within a relationship is more critical as it can destroy a relationship even there is love present. And gradually, this love may become hatre eventually. However, if it is due to external factor then things are less complicated. Provided the relationship foundation is strong enough to withstand and overcome any 'external invasions'. As for the question on 'Is it really possible for you to love somebody, and you are not happy when you are with them?'My response will be if you love someone you will be happy with that someone around. But one thing to take note of, is the perception of love of the 2 parties. If both ideas of love are different, it is difficult to strike a balance. Then this is when love can make people unhappy.

This brings us to the definition of love. There is no fix definition of love, at least this is what i think so. The idea of love is very subjective. What is love depends on how we want it to be. Love can be posession, violent and jealousy or appreciation, respect and care. Ultimately, it is all about the matter of choice, about what are you seeking in love and who you want to give your love to.

    Dance lesson

I had my first dance lesson at Music Story today and i didn't expect it to be so fun! No doubt it was tiring, but i enjoyed it alot. =) On top of that, i think the dance instructor is quite cute...Heez.. =p

We were learning hiphop dance just now and i'm having this urge to take up dance course after i have completed my vocal course. Haiz...but i'm so poor... sob~
I hope my form teacher will slot in more dance lessons for us. (so i can see more of the dance instructor. Hehe... No lah, i am kidding.)

Oh gosh...there are two things in my mind i wanted to learn - Guitar and dance! When can i ever master them both? *sigh*

    Sembawang park! Sat 16/6/07

Yesterday was a whole new experience for me together with the gang. We had the quite an unusual outing. Guess what? We went to sembawang park to play cards! LOL... Initially, we (qb, seet, ek, ben and I) almost called off this outing because the drizzle did not want to stop. But we went anyway. The place was still crowded with people even though with the incoorperative weather. With much effort, we finally found a decent place to settle down. For the first half, we played dai ti and card mahjiong. And for the second half we simply just chat. The topics covered range from ghost stories, religion to global warming and economy etc. After that, we left the park at around 11pm for admiratly Macdonalds and they had supper.

Our food supply for the night! The 8 days magazines was placed there by qb. LOL.

Guys, smile please....don't try to act cool leh...不像!

    me and seet!

They were so engrossed! Especially our seet! hahaz..

    Seet and qb.

Lastly, me and ben shared a stack of cards for dai ti.

    Somewhere over the rainbow

The very first time i came across this video in Youtube, it really gave me goosebumps. Her voice was so soulful and beautiful. Angelic voice as some of the commentors had commented in Youtube. This is the best version of 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' i have heard so far.

The name of this amazing and talented singer was Eva Cassidy.
Sadly, she was no longer with us. She was diagnosed with skin cancer and passed away in the year 1996 at a age 33. R.I.P

People, enjoy this video. Let yourselves be carried into her music...and appreciate with your heart...

    Happy Father's Day!

    13/6/07 - Wed

Yesterday, i brought my whole family to 'Kam Boat Diam Sum Kitchen' (at Marina Square Shopping Mall) to celebrate Father's Day. My treat wor~ Don't pray pray! LOL..But sad to say, the food there was not very fantastic as compared to their interior design. Once i stepped into that restaurant, my expectation of their food quality was quite high. But it was a disappointment. The food was a little too oily and salty to my liking. What's worse was that we were the only customer in the restaurant. I must admit we had dinner quite early yesterday (around 6pm). Or perhaps, crowds are not drawn in due to their food standard? You never know...
I don't know if it was because we were the only customers at that moment, most of their staffs kept crowding around our table. We felt uncomfortable to have so many pairs of eyes on us. No privacy. Not only their food has no standard, their service is unprofessional too.

The highlight of the evening was the Azuba ice-cream! It was so yummy and not too sweet! My mum and dad love it so much. Mum and dad shared a cup of 2 scoops and my sister and I shared another. Theirs was chocolate and black sesame. Ours was blueberry-strawberry and black sesame. All of us vote for black sesame flavour! Yum yum!

    Our food!

I paid in cash and I was so proud of myself to be able to treat my family dinner. I was honoured.
I hope for the day when i have the ability to support my parents. =) But meanwhile, I can only treat them occasionally as i am not earning much since i'm still studying.

Mum and dad at the Esplanade. I am so happy to see them smiling. =)

    DIY Terrorists in Singapore

This issue regarding self-radicalisation of terrorism was featured in the Saturday Times, which was yesterday. A 28 year old polytechnic lecturer was detained as a self-radicalised terrorist. Previously, he earned his law degree at NUS and even practiced his skills at a top firm here. For someone at the age of 28, his achievements were considered quite outstanding.

But WHY? Why such an advanced mind would be condemn by the radical ideologies available in the internet? Don't he have the ability to analyse logically after going through so many years of academic training? well... perhaps these calibre of people have gone through education missing the moral part? Their way of interpretating the quoran viewed the West as an enemy, a threat to the Muslim and they regard going against the West as the most righteous duty to serve. But do the majority of Muslim think this way? The answer is NO! Personally, I feel that it is because of this minority (terrorists, especially the ones at the higher end of the hierachy) who wants great political power. Hence, in order to reach their goals in the most effective way, they abused religion. They used Islam as a channel to seek their reach to the Muslims, to gather more supporters and in turn expand their power.

Due to globalisation, the increase interconnectivity among people has given an opportunity for these radicals to spread their ideologies worldwide. The best represented example would be the internet. A channel whereby our 28 year old polytechnic lecturer got his source from. How influential can that be? To be able to 'brainwash' someone who deemed by others as logical and rational by the judge of his career and educational level.

A person's character is not necessary mould by the number of years of education he/she has. He/she can be as corrupted as anyone else. At least the above example proved this point.

PS: This brief entry is just my personal point of view and there is no means of offending anybody.

    Meaningful

Here is a meaningful sms forward to me by Kimliang:

PS: Kimliang, thanks for sharing this nice piece of work with me. =)

    219 bbq gathering!

Yesterday was a super enjoyable day at East Coast Park for all of us. 219 girls rocks!
We took alot of photos yesterday and most of the group photos are with seet. I was so happy and excited to see some of the girls whom i didn't get in contact with for the fast few months or even 1 year. It was nice to see all of them getting on well with their studies and everyday lives. And illya is thinking of having another girls' night out soon! yeah~
If anyone of you want to grab any of the photos, feel free to patronize our blogs. =)

Haiz...actually i should be going out with seet and her sister later. But i was woken up with swollen gums. The area where my wisdom tooth should be. They are forcing their way out of my gum. Both top and bottom at the same time! I can even see the tear at the lower gum. Yikes! It's quite painful until i don't feel like going out..Can't even bite food properly at the left side...oh man...hope the swollen part with subside and the pain will go off real soon. hai.... Seet, i'm sorry 'fly you aeroplane' again...

Two lonely souls (me and xiao hui) looking out into the horizon...very MTV right? ahahaz...

Illya was so hungry that she could not wait for the bbq to be cooked. That burger was from Burger King. Nice one!

    Panda darling and I.

Our food...I really must thank seet, illya and bernie who helped the most in bbq. Without them, we would have to starve. lol.. =p

illya and I. We looked so .... white!

Seet at work. See how engrossed she was in bbq-ing. Haaz..

I was munching on a crab stick. Delicious~

But...i was not the only one. Bernie and pei kiat (my panda darling) were also as hungry as i was!
Notice a ghostly figure behind them? That's me! hahaz.

Perhaps we were too hungry while waiting for more ffod to be cooked. Here we were trying to chew on the coconut tree bark.

(Left to right) Bernie, me , illya and xiaohui (xh).

Illya was the one who asked me to post this on my blog. Hahaaz.. Guess which was the cup that contained chilli sauce??

We were trying to act miss universe again...

    K-boxing with xiao hui

Gosh...i cannot bear to calculate how much i had spent altogether in singing. Especially these 2 weeks. It's so sinful to spend so much can...I even went to K BOX Chinatown with xiaohui (xh) today. See what i mean? Denise is becoming more spendthrift. Haaz. But since singing is something i enjoy so much, i will not mind going for more K-ing sessions!

I did something that i am very proud of myself today. That was...i sang for 5 hours straight! And miraculously, i was still able to sustain my voice. *beams*

It had been a long time since i last saw xh. So after K box-ing, we went to Cineleisure to have our dinner, watched some performances put up to celebrate Singapore Street Festival and then find a place to chit-chat. =)

Tomorrow will be my JC BBQ! I'm so excited and i can't wait for tomorrow to arrive. It is going to be a busy day tomorrow. Tuition, meet van and agnes at bugis then meet the rest at Masiling. After that, off we move our butts to East Coast Park!

PS: Xiaohui, thanks for sharing your songs with me. Personally, i like them alot. Jia you!

    Partyworld once again

Guess what? I went 'partyworld-ing' again! This was the 2nd time of the week. Unlike the previous, we have more people today. Apart from qb and I, we have andy and ji yong. It's good to have friends with common interests! So whenever i have the urge to sing, i can just give them a call and most likely they will be more than happy to join me. LOL.
We enjoyed singing so much just now that we extent for another 1 hour. Hehe...Overall, we paid about $9 each for 4 hours, from 11am - 3pm. Quite affordable.
After that, the 3 guys went jack's place to have their lunch while i went off to my grandpa's place.

PS: Feel free to inform me when you guys want to go k-ing hor...haaz.

    Saturday night with gang!

I had so much fun yesterday with my friends' company. Seet, agnes, qb, ben and I meet up to go to town. Our first stop was Heeren. We shopped for a while before we proceeded to Cineleisure to have a look at the sports stuffs and to have our dinner. Then we decided to go for some drinks at Harry's pub in Esplanade. The pub has a romantic and cosy ambience. Their live band and singers were great. It really a coincidence that they played and sang my all time favourite songs - 'Fly me to the moon' and 'this masquerde'. =)

Cards games are not allowed at Harry's. It was such a pity because qb brought a stack of magiong cards! We were bored to death, so qb suggested a game called 'future game'. Which means, somebody has to ask a question regarding te future. For example, 'Who do you think will be the wealthiest in the future?' Whoever gets the most vote will do forfeit. In this case, our forfeit was 'truth of dare'. I think we were the loudest there ba. Haha..I really could not stop myself from laughing like a mad woman!
There was once seet was asked to challenge a dare. Qb dared her to tell one of the waiter that he was good-looking and i really admired her guts. She did it without hesitation! But of course, most of the waiters there were good-looking and cute. so i guess it wasn't too difficult for seet ba since she was not telling lies mah.. hehez.. so funny!

Andy came to join us at a later time. That was why he was missing in most of the photos except for the last two.

Hm...time passes so fast. It has already been 5 days after some painful incident. However, i have been handling it well with the support from my friends. They have shown me so much care and concern. Our bond is so much closer now. Muackz!

OMG! what were agnes and qb doing? Was agnes trying to help qb to clear his nostrils?!! AHAHA! They looked so hilarious, espeacially qb! =p

Qb and seet! Don't you think they have the sibling's look? ( we were having dinner at the Cineleisure foodcourt.)

    Smile~

me, agnes and ben! look at ben's unnatural expression...haha...

Opps! I was trying to steal a kiss from agnes and was caught on camera by seet! *shy*

    Agnes and Seet!

    Me and seet!

    Agnes and I at Takashimaya!

We were waiting for our beloved andy...he took so long to reach Harry's pub!

Seet and ben acting retarted? Hahaz... i supposed the wedges were too delicious for them to self contained their behaviour! LOL..

(left to right) Ben's - rose wine, qb's - he's feeling unwell so can't drink alcohol, seet's - rum, mine - vokha, agnes's - gin. All these alcohol beverages have fancy names, but i forgot about them. =X

Formal shot at the lobby of Esplanade.

    Candid shot!
